How to convert or redeploy Aruba CAP or AP to IAP

How to convert or redeploy Aruba CAP or AP to IAP

If you are facing an issue converting an Aruba CAP or AP that is already whitelisted on the Aruba controller and you want to perform this operation remotely without any hard reset or console cable.

Sometimes a hard reset is not possible because the AP is usually mounted on a high cell, and connecting the console to the same place is also not possible. In this situation, we can convert the AP back to the IAP model using the Aruba controller CLI option.

We can use the below command to convert AP.

In my example, I am using an IP address, but it is always best practice to use a MAC address.

You don’t need to run commands in config mode.

ap redeploy controller-less ip-addr 192.168.1.6
